There are approximately 40 billion beautiful, inspiring cookbooks out there. But if you’re like me, you’re not a chef, a photographer, or a food stylist. So when those gorgeous recipes actually make it to the dinner table, they don’t always live up to expectations.
That’s why I’m putting some of the best-looking and best-sounding cookbooks to the test. Follow along as an average home cook (me) cooks my way through them to find out whether those recipes are really worth adding to your shelf.
The pictures won’t be pretty. The plating might be sloppy. And there’s a very good chance something will go slightly wrong along the way.
But these are real dishes, prepared by a real home cook, in a real kitchen. So let’s see what actually makes it onto the dinner table.
